Sustainable Construction: Advancements, Scalability, and Global Implications of Recycled Plastic Composite Bricks

Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: As the global construction industry faces increasing pressure to adopt sustainable materials, this study explores the development of durable, eco-friendly bricks made from recycled plastic combined with reinforcing fillers. These composite bricks present a dual solution: mitigating plastic waste accumulation and reducing the environmental footprint of conventional building materials. Laboratory evaluations demonstrate that these bricks achieve significant structural integrity, thermal insulation, and resistance to weathering. Economic analysis suggests that recycled plastic bricks can lower construction costs by up to 40% while substantially reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Moreover, the integration of AI for process optimization and real-time quality control enhances production efficiency and ensures material consistency. This research also examines the global scalability of this innovation and its potential to revolutionize the construction industry, positioning polybricks as a transformative solution for sustainable urbanization
