Methods for Preventing Difficulties in Developing Students' Intercultural Communication Competence.
Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: In today’s globalized academic environment, the development of intercultural communication competence (ICC) has become a fundamental goal in higher education. However, students often face multiple challenges in acquiring this competence, including linguistic barriers, limited intercultural exposure, and a lack of culturally responsive pedagogy. This study investigates effective methods for preventing such difficulties by analyzing survey data from university students and conducting interviews with intercultural education experts. The findings reveal that curriculum integration, experiential learning activities, institutional support, and faculty training are among the most effective strategies to mitigate barriers to ICC development. The study concludes that a holistic, proactive approach is essential for fostering intercultural competence and preparing students for meaningful engagement in diverse global contexts.
