Hpv Related Cervical Cancer: Advances in Screening Diagnosis Management.a Systematic Review

Year: 2024
Type: article
Abstract: Cervical cancer, primarily driven by persistent infection with high-risk human papillomavirus (HPV) types, remains a significant global health challenge despite advances in prevention, screening, and treatment. This systematic review discusses recent advancements in the screening, diagnosis, and management of HPV-related cervical cancer aimed at reducing incidence and improving patient outcomes. We analyze improvements in screening methodologies, including the integration of HPV DNA testing and co-testing with Pap smears, which enhance early detection rates. Emerging technologies such as self-collection methods and point-of-care testing are also examined for their potential to increase accessibility and patient compliance. Furthermore, we explore novel diagnostic approaches, including liquid biopsy and advanced imaging techniques, that contribute to improved cancer detection and characterization. Recent therapeutic strategies, including vaccination programs and targeted treatments, have shown promise in not only preventing HPV infection but also in addressing pre-invasive and invasive cervical lesions. This review consolidates the latest research findings and guidelines to give a comprehensive overview of current practices and future directions in the management of HPV-related cervical cancer, emphasizing the importance of multidisciplinary approaches for effective patient care and health system improvement. The implications of these advancements for public health policy and resource allocation are also discussed, highlighting the need for global collaboration to effectively combat this preventable disease.
