How Generative AI Impacts on Academic Requirements: A Study on Tertiary Students of BUP

Abstract: This paper examines the impact of Generative AI on Academic Requirement of the students at the Bangladesh University of Professionals. The increasing integration of Artificial Intelligence into education, especially through tools like ChatGPT developed by OpenAI, has resulted in a marked influence on academic practices. This study tries to quantify and analyze this influence along with the findings of the benefits and potential drawbacks of using AI in academic writing. The main objective of this study are to compare the impact on academic requirements with and without the help of Generative AI; assess students' perception of the effectiveness of Generative AI in improving their writing skills; evaluate the originality of the writings produced with the help of Generative AI. Use of questionnaire survey data collection method and SPSS tool for data analysis on 100 students of BUP in this quantitative research, made this paper more insightful. The research shall fill in the quantitative gap related to how Generative AI impact on students' academic requirements.
