Impact of Gender-Sensitive Health Policies on Access to Care for Marginalized Groups
Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: Healthcare is a fundamental necessity that profoundly impacts the quality of life by preventing diseases, improving well-being, and enhancing productivity. Access to quality healthcare reduces mortality rates, promotes economic stability, and strengthens communities. However, in Nigeria, significant disparities exist, with rural populations, low-income groups, and marginalized communities facing severe challenges in accessing healthcare. States in the northern region, such as Borno and Yobe, experience inadequate healthcare infrastructure due to ongoing conflicts, while areas like Rivers and Lagos struggle with overburdened medical facilities due to rapid urbanization.
