Year: 2024
Type: article
Abstract: Although language is essential to human communication, its function goes beyond simple information sharing. It is an essential instrument for creating and expressing individuality. This essay examines the complex interrelationship between language and identity, examining the ways in which linguistic decisions represent personal, societal, and cultural identities. It explores multilingualism, relates sociolinguistic ideas, and emphasises how language affects, how people view themselves and their roles in society. Language is essential for defining one's identity because it captures the socio-psychological elements that enable a person to independently establish and preserve their identity.
