Introducing the Diamond OA Sustainability Check

Abstract: Institutional publishing is central to the ecosystem of Diamond OA publishing. To maintain this growing ecosystem, it is vital to gain continued insights into the financial health of the operations of Diamond OA institutional publishers and service providers. For this purpose, the DIAMAS project has developed a tool for Diamond OA publishers: the Diamond OA Sustainability Check. The tool will help Diamond OA publisher or service providers gain a better understanding of costs, funding and business models, raise awareness of funding needs and options, seek to optimise costs by exploring collaboration and convergence, and provide intelligence, new models and capacity on financial models. This presentation explains the background to the development of the tool, the development process itself, how it is structured, the check statements, gives an overview of the different sections, and a demonstration of the report that is generated and how this can be used.
