Assessing the Economic Contribution of Tourist Visit in the Municipality of Valencia

Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: The study aimed to assess the economic contributions of tourist visits to the Municipality of Valencia, focusing on tourism revenue, employment opportunities, and local business growth. A self-made survey questionnaire was used to collect data from respondents, and statistical tools such as frequency and percentage, weighted mean, and Pearson’s Correlation Coefficient were employed for data analysis. Findings revealed that tourism significantly drives economic growth, with high ratings in revenue generation, job creation, and business expansion. The length of tourists’ stays also plays a crucial role in sustaining the hospitality and transportation sectors, ensuring consistent revenue streams and increased demand for services. However, results showed that the length of stay and transportation do not have a significant relationship with tourism revenue, employment, or business growth, suggesting that other factors influence economic benefits. While tourism contributes substantially to the local economy, the study highlights the need for strategic efforts to maximize its full potential. Enhancing business support programs, improving tourism infrastructure, and implementing marketing strategies to attract high-spending tourists can further strengthen economic gains. The findings suggest that a more comprehensive approach to tourism management, focusing on visitor engagement and spending behavior, is essential for sustaining Valencia’s economic growth. Addressing these areas will ensure that tourism continues to be a vital driver of local development and economic sustainability.
