Abstract: The article clarifies the theoretical factors of the formation of critical thinking of high school students in mathematics lessons. The views of scientists on the interpretation of the concepts of "thinking", "quality of thinking", "critical thinking", "formation of critical thinking of high school students" are analyzed. A structural-functional model of the formation of critical thinking of high school students in mathematics lessons is developed and tested. The conditions for the formation of critical thinking of high school students in mathematics lessons are clarified. It is established that the existing pedagogical conditions and existing contradictions not only strengthen the system, are its background, but also act as its active driving force, influencing the effectiveness of the mental activity of high school students.
