Year: 2025
Type: conference-paper
Abstract: ABSTRACT The rapid evolution of Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) tools, such as ChatGPT, GitHub Copilot, and DeepSeek, reshapes educational practices across disciplines, including hospitality and hotel management. This study aims to analytically examine the awareness, adoption, and perception of GenAI tools among hotel management students in Dehradun, India. Using a mixed-methods approach, a structured survey was conducted among 182 undergraduate and postgraduate students from leading hotel management institutes in the region. Findings revealed a high level of awareness of tools like ChatGPT (96%) and a moderate adoption rate (68.3%) for academic purposes, including assignment drafting, interview preparation, and soft skill development. However, concerns about academic integrity, over-reliance, and ethical boundaries were also noted. The study highlights a growing inclination towards using GenAI tools for personalized learning, yet underscores the need for digital literacy training and ethical guidelines in hospitality education. These insights are significant for educators, policymakers, and institutional leaders aiming to integrate AI tools responsibly in the hotel management curriculum.
