Abstract: Tamil drama guru Sankara Das Swamigal was the son of Damodarapillai, who was hailed as the Ramayana poet. Sankara Das Swamigal's original name was Sankaran. He received his early education from his father and Tamil music education from Palani Dandapani Swamigal. He was known to have the ability to sing and write in various genres such as Venpa, Vrittam, Kalithurai, Agaval, Kannigal, Nondichindu, Kavadichindu, Chandappattu, and Tarkapapadgal from a young age. He also worked as an accountant in the Thoothukudi Salt Warehouse to meet the family's expenses. Due to his attraction to the art of drama, he left his job as an accountant and joined the drama industry. Due to some losses he incurred during his theatrical journey, he left the drama industry and traveled on the path of God. Under the guidance of Pudukkottai Mahavidhuvan Kanjira Manpundia Pillai, Sankara Das Swamigal re-entered the theatre industry, formalized and enriched children's theatre work, and wrote and produced Tamil plays throughout his life. This article records the artistic journeys and works of this great personality.
