Diversity of Grasshoppers (Acrididae) In Different Habitats of Shahuwadi Tahsil, and Boundaries of Ratnagiri District (Maharashtra)

Abstract: The grasshoppers are included in class insecta of phylum Arthropoda. The reach diversity and species reaches of grasshoppers is seen in the month of September and October. The grasshoppers are veracious feeders. Grasshoppers are playing very important role in grassland ecosystem. Life cycle of grasshoppers shows complete metamorphosis. The stages of life cycle include namely- Egg, Nymph and Adult. To protect from predators grasshoppers shows camouflage mechanism. Grasshoppers are voracious eater and mostly damage to agricultural crops like rice, maize, vegetables etc. This study was undertaken from May 2023 to May 2024 in different habitats of Shahuwadi Tahsil of Kolhapur district and boundaries of Ratnagiri district.
