Abstract: Colonial ideology was long unable to depict the Other and account for cultural contradictions, because colonization was based on a rejection of differences, favoring instead a quest for the “same”:anything that failed to fit into this evolutionary principle was considered different. The works of Nadine Gordimer and Patrick Chamoiseau illustrate the impact of this colonial vision on the colonized. His body, when not perceived as an anomaly, is viewed as an object. The consequences of this imaginary can be seen in the geographical space in which the suffering of the body is inscribed. From apostcolonial ecocritical perspective, we will demonstrate on the one hand that when we perceiveotherness, the spatiocultural perspective is an important element, as it influences the idea we haveof the foreigner’s body. Secondly, we will explain how colonization has an impact on land and geographical bodies. Keywords: geographical body, human body, ecocriticism, colonization, violence
