Holographic Thinking A Cognitive Model Alternative to Linear Thought

Type: article
Abstract: Title:Holographic Thinking Theory: A New Cognitive Framework for Multidimensional Thought Description / Abstract:This work presents the Holographic Thinking Theory, a cognitive model that proposes an alternative to linear and sequential reasoning. Inspired by the structure of holograms, this theory suggests that human thought operates—at least in part—through simultaneous, multidimensional processes where images, sensations, emotions, and concepts coexist and intertwine. The paper explores the neuroscientific foundations of this model, including research on the Default Mode Network, episodic memory reconstruction, synesthesia, and multisensory integration. It discusses how these findings align with the idea of thought as a distributed and parallel process, akin to a holographic projection in the mind. Particular attention is given to autistic cognitive styles, where the prevalence of visual and sensory thinking reflects an intensified version of holographic cognition. The work also analyzes the implicit holographic nature of human communication, including prosody, gesture, and sign language, as well as the emotional and embodied dimensions of mental concepts. Finally, the text proposes future applications in Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC), multimodal artificial intelligence, and the development of visuo-spatial languages that may complement or extend verbal communication.
