Determination of Some Quality Parameters of Water Samples from New Kutunku, Gwagwalada, Abuja, Nigeria
Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: This study assesses the physical and chemical quality of ten water samples collected from different sources (river, tap, and wells) in New Kutunku, Gwagwalada Area Council, Abuja. Parameters such as odour, taste, temperature, pH, electrical conductivity, acidity, alkalinity, total dissolved solids, total hardness, chloride, nitrate, and sulphate were analyzed. The results were compared with World Health Organization (WHO) standards for drinking water quality. Findings indicate that while most values were within permissible limits, some samples—particularly from river and well sources—exhibited signs of contamination and require treatment. The study highlights the importance of regular water quality monitoring and public health awareness in rapidly urbanizing communities.
