Abstract: This article examines contemporary demographic challenges confronting the Republic of Korea. The study encompasses historical phases of demographic transition, current age-sex population structure, and government policies addressing the crisis, including fertility promotion programs and family welfare support initiatives. Despite implemented interventions, demographic indicators continue to deteriorate, manifesting in three critical trends: progressive population aging, contraction of the working-age cohort, and mounting pressure on the nation's socioeconomic infrastructure.
