Evaluation of Metakaolin-Cement Concrete Blends through Mathematical Modelling in Sustainable Construction
Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: This study presents a comprehensive analysis of the utilization of metakaolin (MK) in concrete, focusing on its potential as a sustainable alternative to traditional cementitious materials. Various studies investigating MK-blended concrete were synthesized and evaluated through a detailed literature review. The research encompasses the aim, methodology, and findings of these studies, with a particular emphasis on optimizing concrete properties, such as compressive strength, chloride diffusion, workability, and durability through the incorporation of MK. The analysis highlights the effectiveness of MK in enhancing the performance and sustainability of concrete in construction applications. Furthermore, the study identifies key challenges, research gaps, and future directions in the field of MK-blended concrete. These include areas such as mathematical modeling, experimental validation, curing conditions, long-term durability studies, and standardization. By addressing these challenges and gaps, the study aims to provide insights into the potential of MK-blended concrete and guide future research endeavors in this area. Overall, the findings underscore the significance of MK as a promising additive in concrete formulations, offering opportunities to improve sustainability, performance, and durability in construction materials.
