Harmonizing Technology and Traditional Knowledge for Environmental Protection
Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: The environment is facing serious problems like climate change, pollution, and loss of plants and animals. To solve these problems, we need to bring together different types of knowledge. Scientific knowledge helps us understand how nature works through research and experiments. Traditional knowledge comes from indigenous and local communities who have lived close to nature for generations. This paper explains why it is important to combine both types of knowledge. It shares real-life examples from India, the Amazon, and the Arctic where this kind of teamwork has helped protect nature. The paper also gives ideas on how we can better support and respect both science and traditional wisdom.
