Year: 2025
Type: conference-paper
Abstract: Due to economic integration and foreign direct investments (FDI), the energy sector in Central Asia is undergoing significant transformation. Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan have traditionally depended on coal and natural gas as their primary energy sources. However, in recent years, there has been a surge of international interest in investing in the region, leading to a shift towards a more collaborative approach to renewable energy. This report evaluates the current energy mix of these countries, examines the effects of foreign investment in renewables, and forecasts the energy future of the region.
