Abstract: Inspired by the theory of reentrant and asymmetry, a new construction method for vertically asymmetric reentrant honeycomb (VAREH) is proposed, and the general analytical expressions of VAREH for the elastic parameter are derived, which are applicable to all VAREH variant structures, such as reentrant hexagonal (REH) honeycomb. Parametric analyzes are carried out and benchmarked with the finite element (FE) simulation. Furthermore, the uniaxial tension experiments are conducted to verify the elastic mechanical properties of VAREH fabricated by 3D-printing. The proposed construction method offers innovative perspectives for advancing reentrant honeycomb, setting the groundwork for further exploration of their broad elastic property.
