De soevereinen in België en elders: Vraagtekens bij staat, burgerschap en sociaal contract anno 2024
Year: 2024
Type: article
Abstract: This extensive article is the product of my contribution to a KU Leuven-conference on contemporary citizenship. It offers the first cross-national explanation of the international sovereign citizen movement. Its roots I trace to libertarian criticism of social contract theory; its popularity I explain sociologically, stressing the pandemic-engendered clash between the promise of individual autonomy and the reality of minimal control.
