Abstract: Mobile IPv6 enables a Mobile Node to maintain its connectivity to the Internet when moving from one Access Router to another, a process referred to as handover. MIPv6 defined two working cases of communication between Mobile Node (MN) and correspondent Node (CN) which are bidirectional-tunnel mode and Route Optimization. In bidirectional-tunnel Mode, Data is routed between MN and CN through Tunnelling Method that established between HA and MN, and Data will be delivered between MN and HA in this tunnel. Whereas in Route Optimization Data will be sent between MN and CN directly; but implementing this case required that the two communicated node supporting MIPv6. In this paper, we focus on comparing performance of MIPv6 in this two cases during Handover process especially in route Optimization case using OPNET Modeller ® 14.0 in Real Time cases with consideration of QoS Requirement during this movement and finally analysis the results. From the evaluation results using OPNET Modeller ® 14.0, we can see that working in the Route Optimization case can achieve low handover latency and low packet delay comparing with bidirectional –tunnel Mode.
