Novel ideas for next generation triggers and DAQ at the HL-LHC
Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: Next-Generation Triggers (NGT) is a cross-disciplinary, cross-experiment project to leverage innovative computing technologies for data acquisition andprocessing, aiming to go beyond the baseline Phase-2 upgrades.• WP1: Infrastructure, Algorithms and Theory. Improve ML-assisted simulation and data collection, develop common frameworks and tools, and better leverage available and new computing infrastructures and platforms• WP2: Enhancing the ATLAS Trigger and Data Acquisition. Focus on improved and accelerated filtering and exotic signature detection• WP3: Rethinking the CMS Real-Time Data Processing. Design a novel AI-powered real-time processing workflow to analyse every single collision produced in the LHC• WP4: Education Programmes and Outreach. Foster and train computing skills in the next generation of high energy physicists
