Abstract: Review: Through the power of primary source documents, the Black Craftspeople Digital Archive (BCDA) seeks to enhance knowledge of the Black craftspeople who produced much of the American South's prized goods and wares from 1619 on. Archival materials cited in the database are largely sourced from historic newspapers and U.S. Census data, focused on craftspeople working in South Carolina and Tennessee during the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries.
