Abstract: Some analysts view Hungary’s controversial ECP in purely negative light due to its divisiveness and open promotion for far-right ideas. However, this same divisiveness has made Orbán a hero to many on the right around the world and bolstered Hungary’s profile to levels far beyond what would be expected of a post-communist Central European country. Positive views of the country may be almost exclusively confined to the political right, but with politics increasingly divided in the West, this will ensure that it retains remarkable influence and visibility for the foreseeable future.
