"Influence of field synergy torsion screw on extrusion performance of rubber materials"

Year: 2024
Type: article
Abstract: Non-isothermal transient flow simulations of conventional threaded screws and field sy-nergy torsion screws with different segmented edge helix angles, were performed using ANSYS Polyflow software. The simulations focused on the effects of these screw structures on rubber material mixing, heat transfer, and plasticizing uniformity during the extrusion process. The results indicated that the overall performance of the field synergy torsion screw was generally superior to that of the conventional threaded screw, with the screw having a segmented edge helix angle of 45° being the optimal configuration. The spiral flow induced by the field synergy torsion screw improved the synergy between the velocity field, velocity gradient field, and temperature gradient field of the rubber material, enhancing mixing and heat transfer, and thereby improving the plasticizing quality of the rubber material.
