Opportunities for underground geological storage of CO2 in New Zealand : report CCS-08/7, onshore Taranaki Neogene reservoirs
Year: 2024
Type: article
Abstract: A systematic review of potential clastic Neogene reservoir systems for the geological storage of CO2 beneath the Taranaki Peninsula is presented herein. Reservoirs discussed in this report are the Mid Miocene Moki and Otunui formations, the Late Miocene Mount Messenger, Urenui and Kiore formations and the Late Miocene-Early Pliocene Matemateaonga Formation. Details on the depositional environment, lateral continuity of reservoir and intraformational seal/baffle units, net:gross, thickness and reservoir quality are contained within the main report.
