Abstract: The most popular sport in the world, football is played by different social classes in the most varied locations across Brazilian territory, creating identities, bonds and cultures inside and outside its four lines. The practices related to this collective sport have a significant importance in urban space, with the teams themselves being relevant elements in the local area, as well as their fan bases, as popular demonstrations in the stands of their stadiums. The following research aims to analyze the function of the places used to practice football based on the work and research of Brazilian geographer Milton Santos, using as a methodology the analysis of sport as access to leisure, whether playing or cheering, which can be a step towards the development of citizenship and as a search for a common space between individuals.
