Abstract: This text reflects on the inclusion of drawing in design schools around the world and establishes a comparative vision between the training of students who study design, the work requirements and the reflective factors that make drawing a tool or a complement in the various design disciplines. Based on a comparative vision and a perspective on design, on its teaching and professionalization, the key aspects about the type of function that the drawing fulfills in the academy and the role that it represents in the organizational charts and curricular maps of some universities, with which a critique was developed on its role in the training of designers, its functionality and its cultural impact. With this, a portfolio of proposals is presented that sensitize the reader about the nodal points that deserve attention and that visualize as a hypothesis, a sustainable solution.
