Abstract: A fishbowl discussion at the AGMB conference 2024 addressed the question of whether and how the German DEAL with three major publishers influences publication behavior at medical institutions. Participants’ contributions showed a strong bundling of costs in DEAL, no cost savings, and a positive assessment especially of the unrestricted reading access with simultaneous concern about future funding.
