Abstract: The Pacific Riviera of Panama is a strip of approximately 60 kilometers, which extends from Punta Chame, province of Panamá Oeste to Boca de Rio Hato in the province of Coclé; tourist destination classified as sun, beach, and nautical tourism. It has beaches and shallow marine deposits of sand with heavy minerals, with a marked presence of iron and aluminum, classified as ferrous sand; it is of interest to this research to highlight the black sand beaches and the possible studies that can be developed to increase the value of the geological heritage of Panama. The black sands are used to be exploited as iron deposits; however, due to its natural rarity, it has been given a high tourist value, due to its origin related to a particular geological history, they are points to promote new innovative tourist offers that seek to teach respect for nature, using this mineral resource to the sustainable development of communities, as evidenced in other territories. The sands studied are very fine, with spherical grains, between angular and very angular with a 50% magnetite content with a predominantly continental contribution, due to fluvial transport from the area of the mountainous zone of the El Valle Volcanic Complex, indications that the minerals found in the area are the result of erosion of the Central Mountain Range linked mainly to volcanism. To turn this resource into a tourist attraction, it is necessary to train the guides in the area on topics related to the geology of the region, mainly in areas that have geological histories linked to the volcanic complexes of Panama, incorporating new activities to the tours; in addition, promote areas as laboratories for experiments in educational centers in the area of influence.
