Smart Polymers and Responsive Dyestuffs: Synergistic Effects in Color-Changing Applications
Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: This review explores the synergistic integration of smart polymers and responsive dyestuffs, focusing on their transformative potential for dynamic color-changing applications. Smart polymers, known for their capability to reversibly adapt in response to environmental stimuli, and responsive dyestuffs, which exhibit structural or electronic alterations manifesting as color shifts, are analyzed for their individual and combined functionalities. By synthesizing their mechanisms and design principles, the paper highlights advancements in fields such as medical diagnostics, adaptive textiles, and energy-efficient devices. Challenges like durability, scalability, and safety are discussed alongside opportunities for sustainable and innovative material applications. The review provides a comprehensive understanding of the current progress and future prospects in this emerging interdisciplinary domain.
