To Bypass or Not to Bypass: Integrating and Evaluating Parallel Connections and Bypasses in c-Si PV Laminates

Abstract: In this abstract we discuss our approach on investigating the potential and a method for including electrical bypass diodes and parallel connections in a PV laminate. Such an approach could help to mitigate the impact of shading but requires an industrial viable implementation method, together with the necessary simulations to determine the effectiveness on the module performance under realistic conditions. For such an assessment it is needed to develop fabrication technology and samples for evaluation towards model validation.
