Abstract: Viticulture in the south of Ukraine has an ancient history. Grapes began to be cultivated in the Northern Black Sea region more than 2,500 years ago. Before the Greek colonies emerged in the area, the native Tauric population had been engaged in winemaking, possibly, using local wild grapes.
