Abstract: The incidence of rectovaginal fistulas is 1 case per 100,000 population per year. Because of the polyetiological nature of this pathology, the number of patients with rectovaginal fistulas is much higher. The most common methods of treatment are: dissection or excision of the fistula into the intestinal lumen, sphincteroplasty (excision of the fistula), and segmental proctoplasty (excision of the fistula with displacement of a mucosal-submucosal, mucosal-muscular or full-thickness rectal flap into the anal canal). The effectiveness of these operations averages about 50-70%, which leaves the question of finding a solution to this pathology open. In the multidisciplinary clinic of SamSMU, a method of treating low rectovaginal fistulas by pulling down a full-fledged mucosal-muscular flap was used. Seven female patients aged from 30 to 54 years (average age 38.8±7.9 years) with a diagnosis of rectovaginal fistula were operated on. The size of the fistula was up to 0.8-1.1 cm in diameter. No complications or relapses were observed in the studied group of patients.
