Proposed Experiment to Test Relativity: The Rotational Speed Experiment

Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: This proposal aims to design an experiment to test a core prediction of special relativity — that no massive object can reach the speed of light — by pushing a rotating mass to extremely high angular velocities. The proposed setup includes a high-speed motor, vacuum chamber, and cooling system to minimise friction and thermal stress. By attempting to approach the theoretical maximum angular velocity, which depends on the radius of the circular path, this experiment will offer a practical, Earth-based method to probe relativistic effects. The expected results will either align with relativity, showing increasing energy demands and mechanical limits near light-speed rotation, or reveal unexpected behaviours that could challenge current physics. This cost-effective approach aims to provide new insights into high-speed rotational dynamics without requiring extreme environments.
