Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: This expanded study provides a comprehensive analysis of the evolution of Czech national identity within the geopolitical and cultural constructs of the West, East, and Central Europe. Utilizing an interdisciplinary approach that integrates perspectives from history, law, and political science, it builds upon existing research, incorporating relevant sources, critical discussions, and in-depth comparative analysis. Key findings include the systematic deconstruction of binary perceptions of Europe, the role of legal instruments in Czech-German reconciliation, and the dialectic between sovereignty and European integration in the context of EU membership. The study draws from legal documents, including constitutional precedents, EU treaty frameworks, and international law, offering a nuanced interpretation of Central European identity in a globalized context.
