The Revolutionary Evolution of Women's Protection in International Criminal Law
Year: 2024
Type: article
Abstract: The development of International Criminal Law in addressing gender-based crimes has been revolutionary, transitioning from invisibility to a more individualized characterization in the Statute of the International Criminal Court. Despite these advancements, women's protection during times of conflict remains insufficient, leading to dire consequences for women and girls due to their societal status and gender. This paper critically examines the progress and shortcomings in protecting women's rights in situations of armed conflict, emphasizing the need for more comprehensive and effective measures.
