A Review on Antimalarial Drugs
Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: Malaria continues to be a major health issue worldwide, especially in tropical and subtropical areas. Malaria is caused by Plasmodium parasites and is spread through the bites of infected Anopheles mosquitoes. The parasite's lifecycle includes stages in the liver and red blood cells, which lead to considerable illness and death. The disease's progression involves the invasion of red blood cells by the parasite, resulting in inflammation and damage to organs. Diagnosis mainly depends on microscopy and rapid tests, while molecular techniques like PCR provide greater sensitivity.
