Global Burden of Diseases Caused by Social Factors: Circulatory Diseases, Tuberculosis, STIs, and AIDS
Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: Social determinants of health (SDH), including factors such as income, education, housing, and access to healthcare, significantly influence the distribution of disease and health outcomes worldwide. The global burden of disease, as outlined by the World Health Organization, highlights the profound impact that these social factors have on both the prevalence and outcomes of various illnesses. This work focuses on four major diseases—circulatory diseases, tuberculosis (TB), sexually transmitted infections (STIs), and AIDS—examining how social determinants exacerbate their spread and severity. By analyzing the role of socio-economic conditions, social inequality, and systemic barriers in healthcare access, we aim to demonstrate the complex relationship between these social factors and the global health burden, underscoring the need for a more equitable approach to disease prevention and care.
