Abstract: Microfinance has emerged as a significant factor in numerous gender and development strategies due to its direct ties to both poverty alleviation and the empowerment of women. Women, recognized as crucial elements in the social fabric, play a pivotal role in shaping the socioeconomic landscape of Kolar district, Karnataka, India. The promotion of microfinance programs within Self-Help Groups (SHGs) and Joint Liability Groups (JLGs) in India is driven by the belief in their positive economic impact and their potential to empower women, ultimately leading to improved repayment to Microfinance Institutions (MFIs).
