Urban Planning for Smart and Sustainable Cities

Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: Nowadays, most people prefer living in urban areas as cities provide accessibility to essential services, infrastructure, and opportunities, making life easier. However, this increasing urban population leads to numerous challenges such as traffic congestion, resource depletion, and environmental degradation. To address these issues, cities must adopt smart and sustainable urban planning approaches that integrate future-oriented strategies and digital technologies with green infrastructure. The objective of this research is to explore strategies and innovative solutions for developing smart and sustainable cities. This study combines an extensive literature review, case study analysis, and methodological exploration of data-driven approaches (including the use of AI and IoT) to propose a framework for eco-friendly urban development. By integrating renewable energy solutions, smart transportation, efficient resource management, and robust public-private partnerships, cities can mitigate urban challenges and achieve long-term resilience and sustainability.
