Abstract: Summary. Poet, prose writer, dramatist, publicist, editor, posthumous member of the Romanian Academy and full member of the Academy of Sciences from Romania (the current Academy of Scientists from Romania), honorary citizen of the city of Buzău and the commune of Pârscov, was a doctor by profession.He debuted with poetry in Convorbiri literare in 1916. In 1918, his volume of poems appeared, „Din Țara Zimbrului”, for which he received the „Poetry Prize of the Romanian Academy” in 1920. In 1927 he published the volume „Poems with Angels”, acquiring in 1928 the „Romanian Writers’ Society Award”, and in 1936 he received the „National Theater Award” for the play „Umbra”. In 1941 he was awarded the „National Prize for Poetry”.After 1948 he suffered for his democratic convictions, in 1958 (at the age of 74) being arrested and sentenced to 5 years of hard prison and 5 years of civic degradation. He was released in 1962 and died a year later.
