D5.1 Report on the conceptual framework for behavioural change understanding

Year: 2024
Type: article
Abstract: "D5.1 Report on the conceptual framework for behavioural change understanding" contains the conceptual basis for a multi-agent computer model designed to assist with the identification of social-ecological tipping points which enable systemic transformations towards climate resilience. After introducing the approach and explaining its advantages and limitations (Section 1), it details how the agents and institutions are conceptualized in the model using a novel combination of established methods in the field, namely the HUMAT and MOA frameworks (Section 2) and the nADICO institutional grammar (Section 3). It explains how these methods can work together to model social processes at inter-personal and inter-institutional levels (Section 4), thus generating the potential for a powerful and realistic simulation of critical processes in making climate change resilient decisions across a range of scenarios and illustrates the approach using examples from the Bergen case study (Section 5).
