A Case Study on Higher Educational Institutions - Evaluating the Impact of Human Resource Management Practices on Employee Commitment in Private Educational Institutions

Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: This study investigates the impact of human resource management (HRM) practices on employee commitment within private higher educational institutions. Recognizing the significance of employee commitment—comprising affective, normative, and continuance dimensions—for institutional success, the research identifies key HRM practices such as compensation management, career management, and employee engagement as critical determinants of commitment. Utilizing a mixed-methods approach and stratified random sampling, data was collected from 201 respondents spanning teaching and non-teaching roles. Quantitative analyses, including regression and ANOVA, indicate that compensation, career management, and engagement positively and significantly influence employee commitment, particularly emphasizing compensation as the most impactful factor. Notably, the study reveals prevalent HRM inefficiencies contributing to lower job satisfaction and increased turnover. It concludes that enhancing HRM practices, particularly in compensation structures and career development, is vital to fostering employee commitment, offering actionable recommendations for management to ensure sustained employee engagement and institutional success.
