Typology of Prepositional Constructions With Components Zu//առ (arr) in German and Old Armenian

Abstract: The article discusses the issues of semantic and functional features of the prepositions zu in German and առ in the Ancient Armenian languages. In German, the preposition zu requires a direct infinitive, and in Ancient Armenian the preposition առ is used with both a direct and an indirect infinitive. In both languages, the prepositions zu//առ appear in doublet constructions, forming structural types: um+zu, ohne+zu, anstatt+zu in German and առ+ի in ancient Armenian.
