Abstract: Gloriosa superba (L). also known as Malabar glory lilly, is a commercially important medicinal plant that has diverse medicinal applications, and eventually due to over exploitation this plant is facing local extinction. According to one of the ancient proverbs in India, there is no plant has been used by man since ancient times as medicine for curing various ailments. In recent times, there is has been upsurge of interest in focus on the importance of medicinal plants and traditional health systems in solving the health care problems of the world.
