Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: This archived cultural artifact documents a one-night-only, hybrid Zoom performance entitled To Wake Up and Smell the COVID: An Evening Without Eric Bogosian, held on April 24, 2025, at 2:00 PM ET. Presented by HEPA, an independent arts collective based in New York City, the event consisted of a series of original monologues and performance texts responding to the ongoing impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the performing arts community, with specific attention to legacy, loss, and institutional silence. The performance explored broader themes of mortality, memory, and cultural continuity through speculative narrative and public health commentary. While it referenced the public persona and legacy of Eric Bogosian in a symbolic and critical context, the work is entirely unaffiliated with Mr. Bogosian, his representatives, or his creative partners.
