Factors Affecting the Gender Earnings Gap Among Women Agripreneurs in General Santos City

Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: This study examined the gender earnings gap among women agripreneurs in General Santos City, identifying key factors that contributed to this persistent disparity. Utilizing a qualitative approach, the research investigated motivations, barriers, and success factors influencing women's participation in agri-based entrepreneurship. Key findings revealed that despite having comparable qualifications, women continued to earn less than men due to factors such as occupational segregation, family responsibilities, and limited access to leadership opportunities. Structural elements like education, training, and childcare support played crucial roles in shaping women’s economic outcomes. The study proposed targeted interventions such as flexible work arrangements, improved childcare support, and inclusive career development policies to bridge the wage gap and enhance women’s empowerment in the agri-sector.
