Historical Revisionism and Identity Warfare: a Comparative Analysis
Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: This article investigates the use of historical revisionism as a tool of identity warfare in contemporary geopolitical conflicts. The analysis centers on the methods, objectives, and consequences of these strategies, which aim to reshape national identities, legitimize political actions, and influence global perceptions. The study also explores the historical roots of revisionist narratives and their evolution in the modern context of information and cultural warfare. Finally, the paper proposes countermeasures to address the impact of identity warfare on societies and international stability. Historical revisionism, when wielded as a weapon, manipulates collective memory to serve state agendas, making it a potent element of hybrid conflict. This article seeks to dissect these dynamics and their broader implications.
